Nubiyan Twist is undoubtedly one of the most exciting collectives on today’s scene, part of a new generation of British musicians boldly reshaping the codes of contemporary jazz. Originally from Leeds, the group forged its exhilarating blend of neo-soul, jazz-funk, afro-groove and broken beat in London’s club scene. Their sound is often described as festive, dance-driven and socially conscious, with a strong multicultural dimension rooted in both African and African-American musical traditions. The group has collaborated with several major international artists, including Tony Allen, Fatoumata Diawara, Nile Rodgers and Seun Kuti.
