Biography

The Los Angeles trio Gabriels is made up of gospel singer Jacob Lusk, together with co-producers Ryan Hope and Ari Balouzian, respectively a film director and classically trained film-soundtrack composer. Their song "Love and Hate in a Different Time" from their first EP has become a favourite song of Gilles Peterson, of the creative driving force that is Off White Virgil Abloh, Annie Mac and Elton John, who referred to the EP as "the most seminal records I've heard in the last 10 years".

To delve sensitively into the past, while looking boldly to the future: this is Gabriels vision, as a band with soul and vintage R&B sensibilities, blending with the warmest spaces of electronic music and a few experimentations in alternative contemporary pop. The trio is equally capable of offering up a surprisingly simple but devastating piano ballad. Hope, Lusk and Balouzian have spent the last five years refining their EP, making sure to create a work that is not only spectacular, but also important. This is a music that transcends the simple everyday and which aims, essentially, to bring people together. "We want to make great music that matters", states Lusk, dedicated to the Black Lives Matter cause.
