Nice Jazz Festival 2023
Concert is over
Born Stanley Omah Didia in Port Harcourt, in the state of Rivers in Nigeria, Omah Lay grew up in a family of musicians. His grandfather, Celestine Ukwu, was a legendary Highlife singer of the late 70s, known for a host of successful songs like "Ijede", "Ije Enu" and "Money Palava". His father was a percussionist playing in the same genre of music. He spent most of his adolescence at Marine Base, where he began making music as part of a teen rap group named Lil King. Years later, he opted to try his hand at musical production and in 2019, he became Nigeria's go-to producer.
After several songs which enjoyed a certain success in Port Harcourt, he began to think that he could do so much more and decided to get up on stage himself. He recorded "Hello Brother" and "Do Not Disturb", which were played extensively on radio in Port Harcourt, earning him his first contract with the KeyQaad label. Omah Lay's music draws its roots from Afro-fusion and Afrobeat. Omah Lay writes and produces most of his records, with a real sound of his own.
Since his first EP, Get Layd, he has garnered hundreds of millions of listens on all streaming platforms and remains number 1 on Apple Music Nigeria.
Tonight, he will appear with a full orchestra to bring Afrobeat to life in true Nice style …
