Michel Portal needs no introduction. At the age of 85, both undisputed sacred monster of the European jazz scene and eternal free electron, anxious never to “fix himself” once and for all in a style or genre. With his latest opus "MP85", the composer and multi-instrumentalist creates the exact opposite of the testamentary work some would expect from him at this point in his career! Carried along by the energy of a new group merrily mixing generations and musical traditions, Michel Portal, far from making clean for posterity a few “chosen moments” of a life dedicated body and soul to music, continues with “MP85” this existential, artistic quest which for more than 60 years has pushed him to get back “into the game” and in motion each time.
