The multifaceted American jazz pianist and composer Emmet Cohen is one of the essential artistic figures of his generation. Leader of the "Emmet Cohen Trio", Emmet Cohen is an international jazz artist who inspires student performers of all ages to become, like him, sensitive to music, listening to their audience. Having studied piano according to the Suzuki method at the age of three, he graduated in jazz piano from the Manhattan School of Music (M.M.) and University of Miami (B.M.). He was a finalist in the Cole Porter Fellowship of the American Pianists Association (2015, 2011) and the Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition. Cohen has performed or collaborated with Ron Carter, Benny Golson, Jimmy Cobb, George Coleman, Jimmy Heath, Tootie Heath, Houston Person, Christian McBride, Kurt Elling, Billy Hart, Herlin Riley, Lea DeLaria and Bill T. Jones.
