Led by the Cuban singer José "Pepito" Gómez and nominated for a Grammy in 2018, Orquesta Akokán is a big band consisting of Cuba's best musicians from across the generations. On their first album, released on the iconic Daptone label, Orquesta Akokán celebrates the greats of Cuban mambo and harks back with panache to the Cuba of the 50s, paying tribute to a historic period for the island's culture.
